Age Matters launches program for older people with Hoarding Disorder
Age Matters is excited to be launching our Buried in a Lifetime of Treasure program for older people who are have acquired excessive belongings and are finding difficulty letting them go. This 15 week peer support group will assist people learn more about hoarding behaviours and equip them with skills and behaviours that will improve their living conditions. This pilot project will run three groups over twelve months across the Illawarra region of NSW to build the community response to the issue, upskill service providers and establish a sustainable model to continue supporting older people who find themselves at the mercy of their possessions.
We’re seeking expressions of interest from local volunteers to get involved and help participants navigate this complex issue with a sponsor. More information is available here.
