2 December 2022
Dear family member/resident representative,
Thank you for your support and patience as we managed the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.
Since my last update to you on Wednesday, a further three residents at your loved one’s aged care centre have tested positive to COVID-19. We are currently caring for 15 residents with COVID-19 across our care centre’s cottages (excluding Elizabeth Kemp Cottage). These residents are experiencing very few symptoms and we continue to monitor them closely in consultation with their GPs and family. The COVID-positive residents have also started anti-viral medication.
We continue to work with the local public health unit to ensure the care centre is managed in accordance with our outbreak management plan, which includes the ongoing regime of precautionary testing.
To ensure we detect any other cases as soon as possible, and in line with public health unit advice, residents at the care centre (excluding Elizabeth Kemp Cottage) will be tested via the PCR method again tomorrow. I will provide you with another update early next week when we receive the results of these tests. If your loved one returns a positive result, staff will let you know by phone and will keep you updated on their progress.
Visiting arrangements remain unchanged at this time.
If you have plans to visit your loved one in the coming days, you are strongly encouraged to postpone any plans to visit at this time. However if you do continue with your plans to visit, please assist the care centre by complying with the following:
Please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 result you may still have influenza or another virus which is highly contagious.
If you have any questions, please contact your Care Manager.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Yours sincerely
Nia Briguglio
