Prevention and early diagnosis of Alzheimers disease: New models of detection using gene-expression profiling in case-control elderly populations

21 June 2018

The majority of Alzheimer’s disease research has focused on the brain. However, this innovative project involved a search for genetic markers for Alzheimer’s disease in saliva samples.

The researchers compared gene expression, and microRNA levels in target genes between participants with and without Alzheimer’s disease. Ultimately, the goal of this project is development of a blood or saliva test for early detection of the disease.
