IRT Catering creates, prepares and delivers over 58,000 delicious and nutritious meals weekly

IRT’s accredited in-house catering division, IRT Catering produces over 53,000 nutritious meals a week to IRT aged care centres and a number of external clients throughout NSW and ACT. We are proud to have been one of the first in Australia to introduce the cook-chill food technology into the food we prepare.

Providing daily food services for more than 40 years, IRT Catering offers the confidence of a reliable, long established team of dedicated professionals including chefs, cooks, nutritionists and other health professionals

Our philosophy is to provide high quality nutritious meals to older Australians and health providers through our commitment to quality standards and continuous improvement.

The meal experience is an important part of the day and providing a variety of nutritious and flavoursome meals for our residents and clients is what we do best.

Our food offering and services

We provide seasonal menus that can be tailored to individual dietary and cultural and demographical needs according to your organisations specific requirements. We also offer:

  • A range of texture modified foods
  • Function catering
  • Assistance with developing or modifying your current menus.

Our recipes are developed in-house by our professional chefs with our residents and clients in mind using only the highest quality fresh ingredients.

We are constantly seeking feedback from our residents and clients so we can continue to provide the best service and meet the needs of our customers.


Our products undergo an analysis by a consultant Dietician, ensuring our menus are nutritionally sound and balanced. We also provide an ingredient list containing a nutritional and allergen panel for all menu items.


We have a fleet of refrigerated trucks that deliver across NSW and ACT throughout the week to provide the freshest product for our clients.


Strict guidelines ensure our food preparation system uses only the highest quality meat and poultry, the freshest fish and dairy products and top quality fruit and vegetables each day.

From careful selection of suppliers to the delivery of the finished product, each process is monitored. In fact, we hold the highest accreditation from the NSW Food Authority.

Today IRT Catering has become a centralised, sophisticated operation, supplying meals to clients using the cook-chill extended life system throughout NSW and the ACT.

HACCP Accreditation

HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point. HACCP is a risk management methodology used by the food and related industries for the control of food safety hazards to acceptable risk levels.

We’ve been awarded the maximum accreditation under the Hazards Analysis at Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines administered by Food Standards Australia New Zealand and are accredited under ISO standard 22000:2018. This gives our residents and clients the confidence that we are committed to providing the highest quality catering.

Our advanced food preparation method

We prepare meals using the cook-chill process which is a method where the food is cooked to the desired temperature, then rapidly cooled in commercial blast chillers and stored at controlled temperatures. This method of preparing food is safe and simple using guidelines and control measures on the time and desired temperature. This system is widely used in many areas of food production across the industry and provides many benefits which include:

  • More consistent quality of meals
  • Safer food products
  • Reduced wastage
  • Preservation of food quality, nutritional value and flavour and appearance of meals
  • Increased efficiencies for front line and kitchen staff

Moulded Puree Meals and Desserts

We eat with our eyes first so this is an important aspect of every meal and presentation can be greatly improved with the use of the moulds.

CPET Tray Technology

CPET trays are a perfect solution for large volume and commercial food service. The trays allow us to pre-prepare days earlier and in larger quantities, sealed for freshness and stored fresh or frozen, then simply heated or cooked and placed directly into the bain-marie for service.

Gluten Free and Lactose Free Meals

With a growing population of adults with gluten and lactose intolerances we’re  developing a range of products not only suitable for adults with these issues but also appetising and appealing for all.
