We’re working with government and policy makers to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable older Australians through advocacy campaigns and events that educate and inspire. We’re promoting Age Diversity and Inclusion in the context of a rapidly ageing society and increasing demand for aged care and related services within the community. We also recognise that a significant proportion of older Australians lack the personal, social and economic resources needed to age well. We’ve held workshops, sandpits and expos bringing together all levels of our community to change perceptions.

Mature workforce participation advocacy

We’re working with the Australian Human Rights Commission to increase mature workforce participation, and the Benevolent Society to tackle ageism and make sure EveryAGE Counts.

Together with advocates, business community leaders and mature-age workers we’re discussing how we can change community perceptions on working beyond traditional retirement age. Our goal is to change perceptions about mature age workers to improve choice and quality of life for over 50s.

Events to engage workforce participation

Coming along to an Age Matters event is a great way to support our work. We’ve held four Career Check Up Expos for Mature Workers in NSW and the ACT attracting hundreds of participants and exhibitors.

Our Mature Workforce Roundtable and sandpit discussions are an important way to connect different sectors and stakeholders in the issue. We also offer great opportunities for volunteering such as the Wollongong Ambassador program and the Homelessness Street Count.

It’s easy to get involved, just sign up to our newsletter to find out about our next event.
